CATS’n’JAMMER JAZZ BAND
by Maurice Huff
Fellow Jazzers, at Sacramento Jubilee this year, the CATS’n’JAMMER
Jazz Band was a big hit with their *hot* Dixieland and sensational
showmanship. I’ve invited this band back again to show you again why their
witty and polished approach to New Orleans style rhythm has made them one
of the most popular groups for EIGHTEEN YEARS. It’s easy to see why they
perform at most festivals on the Jazz Circuit. They’re classified as New
Orleans, San Francisco, or Trad - but don’t linger on the terminology. This is
a gutsy, enjoyable band.
For all the jazz clubs who work so hard to promote the young people into our
form of music, it’s very refreshing to know we have band leaders who enlist
some of these younger jazz musicians.
Matt Bottel is a very accomplished banjo player and such a wonderful
fun-loving member. He started banjo at age nine and went to Jazz Camp
several times. He played with The Rocklin Quarry Cats. Now at age 27,
Matt is playing this music with THE CATS’n’JAMMER JB and thoroughly loves
it.
Well, to Matt and all the rest of these joyful musicians ... RJS will fill up our
Jazz site with lots of JAZZERS to *toe-tap* along with you. So - we’re glad
to have you with us this month.
