K STREET RAMBLERS JAZZ BAND
CHARLIE HULL - Leader, Clarinet/Tenor Sax
by Maurice Huff
Fellow Jazzers, this month I’m bringing to you a very good band
from Sacramento that’s going to make the dancers “dance for joy”. At the same
time, THIS band is great to listen to, also.
The leader, Charlie Hull, plays clarinet, tenor sax and ‘fronts’ the band. He
joined the Musicians Union while still in high school. Charlie has several groups
playing different styles, but his first ‘love’ is jazz. His easy sounds swing dance
combo is well known to Sacramento dancers... and will be here, also, after this
concert !!!
Five years young, K STREET RAMBLERS JAZZ BAND has a reputation for
swinging and versatility. The band is one of northern California’s most popular
groups, playing for corporate events, grand openings, conventions, rallies, jazz
church services and funerals, private parties and jazz events including the Sac.
Jazz Jubilee.
Most of our Rivercity Jazzers know almost all the musicians on this band as
they’ve been to Redding many times, and what a seasoned bunch they are:
Charlie Hull, Leader, Cl/Sax; Renard Perry, trumpet; John Landes, trombone;
Gene Coplan, drums; Art Nortier, piano; Ralph Thompson, co-leader/banjo/
guitar; Buddy Apfel, string bass/tuba. DON’T MISS THEM.
They really put the frosting on the cake!
