DICK WILLIAMS - Cornet
Dick Williams & His “NEW ORLEANS ASSOCIATES”
from Pleasanton
by Maurice Huff

Fellow Jazzers, this month I have a very exciting Jazz Band. While talking with Dick Williams at a jazz site, he said he was enthusiastic about a “sound rattling around” inside. He phoned select musicians and they got together to play some standard and some ‘not-so-standard’ jazz. With trad jazz groups, there’s a common mind-set regarding playing without benefit of arrangements. They just know where the gist of a tune lies and how to make the notes come alive ! This band has a very splendid CD that has ‘something’ that grabs you right away !!

For some of you longtime jazz followers, you know Dick Williams from the many bands he’s played on, such as: Creole Jazz Kings, Tuleburg, Desert City Six, Good Tyme, High Sierra, Desolation, Jazzin’ Babies, Milenburg, and 10th Avenue J.B.

Dick was born in Los Angeles. In 1988, he settled in Pleasanton, helping companies throughout the electronics industry find the “right people” for key executive positions in sales, marketing, engineering and processing.

So, with DICK WILLIAMS & ASSOCIATES,
we see Dick has a great job along with great jazz music.

Don’t miss this band !
