William BAT(T)SON was born about 1782 in what is now West Virginia. He was most likely born in Hampshire County. I believe he is the son of Mordecai BATSON and Rachel MARNEY. In Bourbon County will book B, page 264 is recorded the will of Robert MARNEY. The will was dated January 24, 1805 and probated during the March 1805 court. The two witnesses of the will are Robert and William BATTSON. Robert Marney is the father of Rachel Marney BATSON. William had at least two brothers, Robert and Jonathan BATSON. In his early teens his parents moved to Bourbon County, Kentucky.
William met and married Sarah MC CANN most likley in Bourbon County, Kentucky. They were married on August 11, 1805. Sarah is the daughter of James and Ann MC CANN. They had eight children. The names of them are as follow: Rachel BATSON, Ann BATSON, James BATSON, Temperance McCann BATSON, Mordecai Milton BATSON, Electa Emeline BATSON, Mary Maria(h) BATSON and Jonathan BATSON.
William's parents moved to Sullivan County, Indiana in 1819. William, Sarah and children may have moved there also for a short while. The family was living in the Dayton Township of Montgomery County, Ohio by 1820. The children Maria(h) and Jonathan were born there. Sarah died while they lived in Montgomery County circa 1831.
William remarried to Eacy Jane DONOVAN. Jane was born on September 24, 1811 in Pennsylvania. They married on January 05, 1832 in Montgomery County, Ohio. Thye had two children: John Donovan BATTSON and Joseph BATTSON. William, Jane and children moved to Elizabeth Township of Miami County, Ohio in 1838. In about 1841 the family moved to Staunton Township of the same County.
According to the 1850 census William still lived in Staunton County. Only his son John still lived in the home. William died on November 05, 1854 in Staunton Township, Miami County, Ohio. Jane died on February 21, 189(5). I do not yet know where Jane died.
