This page is an index of Birth and Marriage records from Mercer County, Ohio records that I have. My children have ancestors [CARTER, GRAY, BONE] that lived in Mercer County some dating back to the 1840s. Not being able to actually go to Celina, Ohio I did almost next to the best thing I order microfilm copies of the original birth, death and marriage records books. The original handwritten registers have been microfilmed [Film # 0914953, 0914954 and 0914956]. Just like census records, they are quite hard to read most of the time. Between the quality of the books, (I believe almost 100 years old at the time of the microfilm) the microfilm itself and the old time cursive it seems almost impossible to read. I had the index pages for the letters B, C and G photocopied for Volume I of the Birth Records (1867-1883) and the letter C for Volume II (1883-1888). I also had about three pages of Volume I photocopied. I had the index pages for the letters B, C, E, G and R photocopied for Volume III of the marriage records (1861-1875). I plan on creating pages for all the indexes and the few pages. The pages are being done just as they were written into the ledgers. The indexes did not have any kind of headings, so for convience I have added some. I hope the index will help persons researching Surnames with those letters.
