| Well... you didn't wake up
this morning, 'cause you didn't go to bed. You were watching the whites of your eyes turn red. The calendar on your wall is ticking the days off. You've been reading some old letters. You smile and think how much you've changed. All the money in the world couldn't buy back those days. You pull back the curtains and the sun burns into your eyes. You watch a plane flying across a clear blue sky. This is the day your life will surely change. This is the day when things fall into place. M. Johnson |
The Ones That Got Away

An unusual blending of early and late parts, this was my '65 Cal Look Bug. It featured a late deck lid and apron, 1956 to 1961 tail lights, a third brake light in the deck lid made from the lens and bulb holder of a 1956 to 1961 tail light, custom dash, aluminum T-bars, disc brakes, one-piece windows, and an original Avise front beam. I built it in the '80's and sold it in February, 1993. |
| My 1973 Volkswagen. I had this car since I was 16 and planned to keep it forever. This picture was taken just before I began the complete restoration and customizing. | ![]() |

The restoration in progress. The body was off the chassis and everything was going great. A narrowed beam was in place along with four-wheel disc brakes, custom transmission mounts, big engine and many powdercoated parts. |
| October, 1999. Halfway through the restoration, fire swept through the
neighborhood where it was stored and the garage burned down. My
car was completely destroyed!
So long, old buddy. |
